I Lost 5 Pounds!!!

So what did I do? I tried the Usana 1-week challenge through
my buddy Bill Oviatt (http://billoviatt.usana.com ).

This involved drinking 3 shakes per day, 2 healthy oat bars, and plenty of fruits and vegetables.

It's worked so well, that I'm continuing the diet until I get down to 185 lbs.

Why is it so important for me to lose weight? I would like to get my blodd pressure down, and take some weight off of my achilles tendon. My right achilles tore when I was playing racquetball a couple years ago and being lighter will take some of the load off of my left achilles.

I'm not losing the weight as quickly because on weekends there are parties. As long as I moderate, I'm in good shape, and then on Sunday I start again. 3 protien shakes, healthy oat bars, and fruits & vegetables.

I am never hungry on this diet. The key for me has been not eating an entire health bar all at once. I take a small bite every 20-30 minutes. That's enough to quell any hunger pangs until the next shake.

Because I'm allergic to milk and peanuts, I drink Soy protein, and eat health bars without peanuts (almonds are ok...I'm not so sure about Walnuts for me...I think I am also slightly allergic.)

Anyway I hope to be 185 lbs by next June 2010 so I will keep you updated from time to time.

Original post blogged on b2evolution.

I've been spending my days looking for ways to lose weight.

I tried the Abs Diet, Eat Right for Your Type, and the Lemonade Diet without long-term results. I need a serious life change.

I want to reduce salt, and since there is so much salt in meats, I'm moving to be vegetarian. Won't be going vegan, so I'll still eat cheese and eggs.

It's not as hard as I thought because I cook lots of frozen veggies. I keep them in the office and cook 1 cup for snacks in the afternoon. If I'm in the office late I'll have some corn, peas, and broccoli all cooked up in the microwave. I add some cheese to the broccoli.

I also keep a bag of frozen yam fries in the microwave if I want something a little more substantial. I add no ketchup. Too much sodium.

My weight is 215 today. I'm thinking to lose weight 5 lbs at a time. Maybe that's the best way to get to 195.

Original post blogged on b2evolution.

Reducing High Blood Pressure

Something that I've been doing a lot more lately is cooking frozen vegetables when I want a snack. Mixed vegetables, corn, green beans, whatever have been quite filling for an evening snack instead of a chicken sandwich or piece of cake.

Also something unexpected has happened. My blood pressure has started to decrease! I am still a little above normal, but this change has made a huge benefit.

Just make sure that you do NOT eat the canned vegetables. They have 10 times as much sodium as frozen.

I got this idea because I saw a guy at my office cook frozen vegetables in the microwave as I was grabbing my daily Snickers bar.

I said, "Ok, that looks easy, and it's cheaper too!" Okay, it's better for me as well.

I've been starting to mix it up so that it doesn't get boring. Corn one day, mixed the next, green beans on Friday.

I hope it helps you. I'd love to hear your comments. I know that the garlic pills, low-dose aspirin, fish-flax-borage tablets, vitamin C, calcium haven't been helping me much.

Original post blogged on b2evolution.

These guys work hard for Driver's Rights. They have helped to get speed limits raised worldwide where they are set unfairly low. The increases have not increased accidents, and in some cases accidents have been reduced!

I don't know what's going on, but the speed limits around Cleveland, OH need to be increased.

There are dozens of streets that are marked 25mph that should be 30, and the highways are marked 60 need to be 65.

The turnpike is 65, and should be 75.

I am not sure why they are so low. All I can think of is revenue generation.

See this article

 http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/01/090112121819.htm

Where they talk about expecting more traffic tickets in a weak economy. I know I've been seeing more cops lately. Gotta make that money!

Original post blogged on b2evolution.
